Sci & Tech Writing

Overview

Science and Technical Writing is a class commonly intertwined with STEM in order to teach how to write up pieces of scientific literature, research, and other articles more effectively. On this page you will find a copy of a Research Notes document which includes detailed information on some 20 sources related to the field of Computer Science and Machine Learning for my STEM 1 Project. You will also find a copy of my Literature Review which details my research in this field and more. There is also my Project Proposal which covers many of the logistics of my project.

Project Proposal

The Project Proposal is a document that outlines the general elements of my STEM 1 project and gives a good rough idea of what I’m working on. This includes everything from my Phrase 1 and 2, Problem Statement, Background Information, Data Analysis, References, and a Timeline. Phrase 1 and Phrase 2 are the Problem Statement and Hypothesis. For an Engineering question, such as mine, the latter would help to narrow the focus of my problem. I strongly recommend reading this document if you are unfamiliar with my project.

Literature Review

The literature review is a large compilation of my research throughout the year. My research review includes information on the general structure of Machine Learning processes, new advancements in the field, Information Density of language, compression and efficiency, and semantic exploration. This document is an excellent place to read up and get familiar with the field of Machine Learning and Linguistics.

Project Notes

This document details more articles than I included in the Literature Review. This includes articles that I read detailing Zip files to professional linguistic studies and even news articles related to advanced semantic kernels dealing with the faster, more streamlined approach of setting and getting information with regards to natural language. Here is an excellent place to research if you are interested in learning more about the Machine Learning technique known as “blocking” as well.
